Economics InfoBook

The Economics Infobook, or Student Handbook, augments the Bulletin and other University publications and contains department-specific policies, procedures, and degree requirements. All students interested in pursuing a major or minor in economics should review the material found in this document. Many common questions are answered here, as well as guidance for course pathways, declaration, graduation, and honors/awards.

Stanford's ECON 1 and The Introductory Economics Center (IEC) have been in operation since the fall of 1997. The main mission of this center is to promote high-quality teaching and innovative program development at the introductory level of economics.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Participants work directly with faculty on their ongoing research, receiving substantive supervision and training by the professor, in line with the goal of enriching the student learning experience and preparing students to do their own research.

First published in 2013, the Stanford Economic Review (formerly Comparative Advantage) is the only undergraduate economics publication at Stanford University.

Fed Challenge

The Stanford Fed Challenge team competes annually in the College Fed Challenge, where teams present a monetary policy recommendation and participate in a Q&A by Federal Reserve economists. Team members are recruited by application, typically during Spring quarter.
