Summer RA Program

The Economics Research Assistant Program for 2020 runs for a ten-week period from Monday, June 22 through Friday, August 28, 2020.  Participants work directly with faculty on their ongoing research, receiving substantive supervision and training by the professor, in line with the goal of enriching the student learning experience and preparing students to do their own research.

Eligibility

Participants must be current undergraduates at Stanford. Preference will be given to students who have declared Economics as their major and are completing their junior year, although sophomores with exceptionally strong academic records are also welcome to apply. Applicants should be on track to meet the Economics Department’s GPA threshold requirements for Honors (that is, achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the courses required of an Economics major).

Expectations

Each RA’s forty-hour workweek will be devoted to research work under the direction of the faculty sponsor, to organized Program activities, and (if the supervisor approves) to the exploration of independent research topics.

Stipend

Each RA will receive a stipend of $7,500 for ten weeks of full-time research work (reduced pro rata if the period of work is less).

Housing

RA's will be eligible to purchase on-campus housing. Students may review the summer room and board rates on the Housing Assignment Services website.

How To Apply

If you are interested in applying for this program, follow these instructions. The completed applications should be given to Laura Quirarte in Landau Economics Room 149, 579 Jane Stanford Way. The deadline is Thursday, February 27, 2020 by 4:00 PM.  Questions can be directed to Professor Tendall, Program Coordinator.
